This memo examines Norwegian artists and cultural workers’ international activities based on the following research questions: What characterizes the international activity, how does it start and what is the underlying motivation? Which support apparatus and functions are central, and what are the international activities’ economy, profits, and costs? What representative roles or functions do the artists have? What does the green shift mean for international cultural activities? And, finally, what do the artists themselves think are the most important success criteria in their international business? The material analysed is constituted of qualitative interviews with 30 Norwegian artists and cultural workers with international success. The sample is recruited from a gross list compiled by partner Norwegian Arts Abroad (NAA).
