Line Elise Holmboe

Holmboe is a cultural sociologist and a researcher in cultural policy. She holds a PhD in social sciences on the topic of literary policy.

Cultural policy, literary policy, municipal cultural policy, libraries, museums, the visual arts sector, performing arts, the film industry, public–private partnerships in the cultural sector.

Key qualifications:

Holmboe is a cultural policy researcher affiliated with the research group Cultural life and Cultural Policy. She works on cultural policy and cultural sociology issues and has particular expertise in the fields of literature and visual arts. In recent years she has researched the municipal cultural sector, produced several studies on the performing arts, and written reports on Norwegian film. Holmboe has been project leader for multiple projects on art and cultural policy topics such as value principles for remunerating artistic work, content diversity in Norwegian film, the municipal cultural sector, and performing arts for children and young people. She works qualitatively and is especially concerned with practice-based perspectives in research on cultural policy topics. She has broad experience as a cultural communicator and leader in the cultural field. Holmboe holds a PhD in social sciences from OsloMet. The doctoral thesis takes a literary-sociological approach and is grounded in cultural policy research. The title of the doctoral project is Literature Policy in Practice — Publishers’ Perspectives on the State Purchase Scheme for New Norwegian Literature (Holmboe 2024).
