Singsaas is employed as a senior researcher at Telemarksforsking. She holds a PhD in spatial and community planning from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. Her main fields of expertise are sustainable resource and land management, regional planning, outdoor recreation, tourism and broad value creation, outfield management, wild reindeer management, and social sustainability in the green transition.
In 2023, Singsaas was awarded a Fulbright research scholarship and spent the autumn of 2023 at Cornell University in New York, USA. There, she conducted research on the management of zoonotic diseases in the Arctic and northern regions, such as CWD (chronic wasting disease), from a One Health perspective.
Singsaas has been the project leader for the Research Council of Norway project Sustainable coastal recreation – the role and potential of voluntary organisations and civil society in coastal areas under pressure (COASTREC) link: COASTREC | Telemarksforsking. She is also a partner in the Research Council project Planning for sustainable second-home development (SECPLAN) link: SECPLAN – Planning for Sustainable Second-Home Development | NMBU and was a partner in the recently completed project Governing transitions in the Norwegian outfields: Between agrarian traditions, modern consumption and green industrialisation (GOVOUT) link: Governing transitions in the Norwegian outfields: Between agrarian traditions, modern consumption and green industrialisation (GOVOUT) – Ruralis.
From 2023 to 2025, Singsaas served as Deputy Director at Telemarksforsking. She comes from a leadership position in environmental management and also has extensive political experience. She is a frequently used process leader and lecturer, with particularly broad experience in user-driven and cross-sectoral R&D projects. The combination of practical experience from management and politics makes the societal contribution of research particularly important to Singsaas.
