Bjerklund is a Professor of Child Welfare and holds a secondary position at Telemarksforsking. She is an expert in child welfare, childhood, diversity, Indigenous issues, pedagogy, and special needs education.
Bjerklund has extensive experience in research, research group leadership, and project management. She has worked with several externally funded research projects. She has published a wide range of scholarly articles, reports, and academic book reviews. Bjerklund has long-standing experience as a lecturer and supervisor, and has further experience in developing educational materials
